The first Margibi senatorial candidates debate ahead of Liberia’s October elections kicks off today August 5, 2023, at the Kakata City Hall beginning at 10:00 am in Kakata, Margibi County.
The people of Margibi are further informed that attendance to the debate is determined by an official invitation from the LMDI debate team to avoid overcrowding of the debate hall leading to undesired rowdiness in the debate hall.
All candidates will be allowed at most six persons per their own invitation into the debate hall.
The LMDI debate team informs Margibi that all debates will be streamed live on our facebook pages, Liberia Media For Democratic Initiatives-LMDI & -The Dialogue/Ducor Debates, our partner the KMTV and scores of other social media outlets.
This senatorial and other ensuring debates will also be broadcast live on several local community radios radio stations at all locations these debates would be taking place throughout the month of August.
Given the momentum that comes with the holding of these debates, LMDI has also sought the support of the Liberia National Police to help provide protection for the candidates, attendees and as well as the LMDI’s team against any act of violence, disturbance and unwholesome behaviors.
LMDI’s executive director Mr. John Kollie has therefore sent out a plead to the people of Margibi to be peaceful and help LMDI hold the debates in calm and civility to generally keep the peace during and after these 2023 elections for the good of the country.
These senatorial debates are made possible through the kind sponsorship of Internews Liberia Media Partnership with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
