“THE LEGEND” with PLO Lumumba: A Public Discourse on Integrity, Justice, and Pan-Africanism

Radio Z-Maanneh (90.3 FM) | Thursday, July 17, 2025 | Hosted by LMDI

Today, Thursday, July 17, 2025, Liberia will witness a landmark event as the Liberia Media for Democratic Initiatives (LMDI), in collaboration with the PLO Lumumba Foundation Liberia Chapter and the Sheikh Kouyateh Foundation, hosts a compelling edition of “THE LEGEND”, one of its newest people-to-people (P2P) media and outreach platforms.

This special edition of THE LEGEND features none other than Professor PLO Lumumba—a celebrated African voice of integrity, accountability, justice, and Pan-Africanism. Known across the continent for his impassioned advocacy for African unity and good governance, Professor Lumumba will engage with at least 100 young Liberians in a virtual conversation that promises to be both motivational and deeply insightful.

A Celebration of Legacy and Purpose

The event coincides with Professor Lumumba’s birthday and forms part of continent-wide activities honoring his lifelong dedication to Africa’s liberation and development. The discussion will highlight his personal and professional journey, focusing on the struggles, triumphs, and ideals that continue to shape his mission across Africa.

Veteran Liberian journalist, John Kollie, will moderate the session, broadcasting live from the LMDI Headquarters on Radio Z-Maanneh (90.3 FM), located in Lower Careysburg, near Monrovia.

Empowering Youth, Promoting African Enterprise

On the sidelines of the discourse, the PLO Lumumba Foundation Liberia Chapter will officially launch the PLO Liberia African Clothing Enterprise (PLACE)—a bold initiative designed to merge African cultural pride with entrepreneurial spirit. Attendees will also watch a curated collection of Professor Lumumba’s iconic speeches, which have inspired a generation of young African leaders.

The LEGEND: A Platform for African Voices

THE LEGEND is part of LMDI’s broader Communication for Development (C4D) strategy and aims to spotlight individuals whose lives have made significant impacts on Liberia, Africa, and the wider world. It is one of two new LMDI platforms, the other being the University of the Air, which brings university-level learning to the public through radio broadcasts.
