LMDI’s 2023 Ducor Debates For October Elections Kick Off Soon…

The Liberia Media for Democratic Initiatives (LMDI), announces the holding of its flagship candidates debates for the October 10, 2023 Legislative and Presidential Elections beginning the 8th of August in line with this year’s electoral calendar.

The Liberia Media for Democratic Initiatives is the facilitator and owner of Liberia’s first and leading media and community outreach blended set of People To People (P2P) Communication for Development and  Public Education Platforms, The Dialogue, Ducor Debates, and Tomorrow’s People.

The director of the Liberia Media for Democratic Initiatives (LMDI) John Kollie announced over the weekend that LMDI will partner with USAID/INTERNEWS Liberia Media Activity (LMA) and the Kreative Mindz Studio Limited or KMTV Liberia to roll out candidates across Liberia.

Beginning August  8, August 2023,  LMDI will begin the rollout of a series of four regionalized debates for the Vice Presidential Debates in Gbarnga in Bong County and continues to three other cities in three other counties, Buchanan in Grand Bass, Sanniquellie Nimba, and Bensonville or Bentol in Montserrado County.

The senatorial debates are expected to take place in  Kakata in Margib,  Monrovia in Montserrado will precede the first  Vice presidential Debate at Gbarmga. After the first batch of debates, the other three Vice Presidential Debates will be rolled out alongside the senatorial debates across most of the counties of Liberia for the 2023 elections.

LMDI and gratified to have the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-INTENERNEWS Liberia Media Activity (LMA) as the proud sponsors of the senatorial debates, while the Vice Presidential Debates will fully be carried out by the efforts of the LMDI and KMTV Liberia.

 At the moment, the LMDI is making initial contacts with most of the qualified Vice Presidential candidates most of whom have responded in affirmative their participation in these debates.

All debates hosted by the LMDI and partners will be held under the organization’s Town Hall style debate platform, DUCOR DEBATES, and will be given massive media coverage by the LMDI’s Partner Network of 45 National and Rural Community Radios and scores of social media platforms.

LMDI’S  debate facilitators and moderators will be drawn from the  LMDI, other civil society organizations, and national and rural community radios within the localities of these debates will be held.

LMDI’s director, therefore, encourages the public to attend these debates adding that the debates are perfect opportunities for members of the public, communities, and districts to ask the various candidates critical questions to enable them to understand the various political parties and candidates manifestos as the country goes to the polls in a few weeks.
